Enjoying the winter rain with this verbose yet charming book. I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about it, since the prose is beautiful and the plot exciting, but do we really need a two-page list of everything on the dining table? As a debut novel, it seems like the author was really just attempting to prove her literary and intellectual prowess by virtually word-vomiting the entire Oxford English Dictionary. “The next Tolkien”? I think not. However, I can appreciate the beautiful writing and creativity all the same. It doesn’t hurt that elements of Celtic myths and folklore are interspersed throughout.
So this is what happiness looks like.
Someone tell me how they grow so fast. It’s like I woke up one day to a little boy instead of a toddler.
My honey came down for a lovely, much-needed girl date, where we pretended to be posh ladies going out for afternoon tea and wishing we were doing this in England. Time spent with her is good for the soul.
It’s never too early to begin the brainwashing.
